A New Year celebration turned tragic at Kumasi-Tafo Mile 4 when a firework display reportedly ignited a blaze that consumed a shop near the Hisense outlet.
The incident left the shop and other adjoining structures engulfed in flames.
Eyewitnesses say the fire spread rapidly, causing panic among onlookers and nearby residents.
No casualties have been reported, but the shop’s contents were completely destroyed.
The exact accelerant of the fire is still unknown as fire service personnel were yet to arrive at the scene as at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the Fire Service command had earlier embarked on a sensitization program, cautioning of celebrations involving fireworks.
