The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has issued a public caution over a fraudulent Facebook account impersonating its Chief Executive, Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey.
In a statement, Management of the Authority said it wishes “to draw the attention of the general public to a fraudulent Facebook account impersonating the Chief Executive, Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey.”
The DVLA clarified that the Chief Executive does not engage in official duties, business transactions, or financial dealings through personal social media platforms or private messages.
“We wish to state categorically that the Chief Executive does not conduct official business, offer contracts, or solicit payments through personal social media accounts or private messages,” the statement stressed.
Members of the public have therefore been advised to disregard any friend requests or messages from accounts claiming to be the DVLA CEO and requesting financial favours or personal information.
The Authority further urged the public to report any such suspicious accounts directly to Facebook and to rely solely on official DVLA communication channels for inquiries and updates.
According to the statement, “the Authority will not be held liable for any transactions or engagements entered into with this unauthorized account.”
Management also assured the public that steps are being taken to deal with the situation, noting that it is working with relevant security agencies to track and address the criminal activity.
The DVLA reiterated its commitment to public safety and cautioned citizens to remain vigilant against online impersonation and fraud.
