Newly elected flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called for unity within the party, pledging to use the momentum from his victory to bring party members together in winning the 2028 general elections.
Speaking after securing victory in the NPP presidential primary on Saturday, January 31, 2026, he called on party members to harness the victory to unite and rebuild the party, for future electoral glory.
“I call on all to join in this bounding duty, this is the crucial journey to rebuild our brand and reposition our party for electoral glory,” he told party supporters.
He appealed to delegates and supporters across the country to set aside any reservations arising from the contest and rally behind the shared vision of the party, urging that “together we stand, divided we fall.”
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia further tasked party members to honor and preserve the advice bequeathed by the party’s forebears to protecting it traditions.
