The Amasaman High Court has reduced the prison sentence of Evangelist Patricia Asiedua popularly known as Nana Agradaa or Sika Gari, from 15 years to 12 calendar months.
In addition to the reduced jail term, the court has ordered Agradaa to pay a fine of GHS2,400 and refund GHS500 each to the two complainants involved in the case.
Agradaa was initially convicted by the Circuit Court on July 3, 2025, for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretences.
Her appeal argued that the trial court failed to take into account the number of days she had already spent in custody, did not provide adequate facilities to prepare her defence, and imposed an excessively harsh sentence.
The High Court’s ruling comes after careful consideration of these grounds, significantly reducing the term of imprisonment while upholding the financial penalties.
