Creative and tech advocate, Jonathan Nii Laryea, popularly known in the showbiz space as Jonilar, has called on the government to actively support young Ghanaian tech developers to harness their innovation potential.
Speaking on Nyansapo, a segment on Anopa Bofo, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Jonilar urged authorities to organize regional tech engagements across the country to identify and support promising developers.
“There should be tech engagement in all regions across Ghana. Let’s look at the best ten and streamline it down to five,” he said.
He emphasized the growing importance of digital applications developed by young innovators, describing them as essential tools rather than luxuries.
“These apps are no longer a luxury; they are a necessity. We need them all the time because of the power they carry, the role they play, and their everyday utility,” he noted.
Jonilar further called on the Ministry in charge of technology and innovation to engage directly with young developers by giving them the opportunity to present their applications and demonstrate how they work.
“Somebody needs to push the Ministry to engage these guys, let them bring their apps, show how they work, and see how best they can be supported,” he added.
He also highlighted a disconnect between policymakers and the tech community, suggesting that many leaders do not fully understand the impact of innovation on job creation.
“Some people in leadership positions don’t necessarily understand how these things work. A young man sitting at home developing an app can create employment for thousands,” he said.
Jonilar recommended the organization of tech summits and workshops, stressing that such platforms would help the government recognize how young developers can contribute significantly to employment and national development.
