The Western Regional Police Command has arrested three individuals in connection with the transportation of suspected narcotic substances intercepted within the region.
In a briefing to the media, the Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, stated that the arrests were made around 5 p.m. the previous day.

According to her, the first truck was intercepted at the Assorko Assaman Police Barrier by officers on duty. Upon stopping the vehicle, three suspects fled the scene, but one was apprehended.
The arrested suspect subsequently led police to a second truck parked at Nkroful Junction.
In total, three individuals have been arrested. They have been identified as Moses Kweku Tawiah, aged 44; Isaac Kwame Kunto, also aged 44; and Kobina Forson, aged 55.

Superintendent Adiku disclosed that Isaac Kwame Kunto and Kobina Forson allegedly attempted to bribe police officers with GH¢69,000 in a bid to secure the release of their colleague.
The officers declined the offer and immediately arrested the two suspects.
The trucks were later offloaded, revealing 152 large bales of suspected narcotic substances. Each bale reportedly contained about 82 pieces of compressed substances believed to be Indian hemp, wrapped in yellow packaging.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were transporting the substances from Koforidua and were heading toward Côte d’Ivoire before being intercepted in the Western Region.

Police have stated that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be arraigned before the court. If found culpable, they will face charges related to possession and trafficking of narcotic substances.
Superintendent Adiku further advised the public to desist from engaging in illegal drug-related activities, warning that the command remains on high alert.
She commended the officers at the Assorko Assaman barrier for their vigilance, noting that without their alertness, the trucks could have successfully crossed into Côte d’Ivoire.
