Government has approved the payment of salary arrears owed to nurses and midwives recruited in the 2024/2025 intake.
This follows successful negotiations between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health, the arrears will be cleared in four instalments beginning in April and concluding in July.
The approved payment schedule is structured as follows: two months in April, three months in May, three months in June, and three months in July.
The Ministry emphasized that this arrangement reflects government’s firm commitment to resolving outstanding obligations in a timely and sustainable manner.
It commended the nurses and midwives for their patience, professionalism, and dedication to service delivery despite the delays experienced.
The Ministry also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Finance for the priority attention given to the matter, noting that the intervention underscores government’s broader commitment to the welfare, motivation, and well-being of health workers across the country.
