President John Dramani Mahama has declared Monday, March 23, 2026, a public holiday.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Interior on Friday, March 13, 2026, it was noted that the Eid-Ul-Fitr and Shaqq Days, observed by our Muslim community, will fall on Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21, 2026, which are statutory public holidays.
The statement, however, explained that since March 21, 2026, falls on a Saturday, the President of Ghana has added Monday as a public holiday.
” His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has, by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), as amended,
”Declared Monday, 23rd March 2026, as Additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country,” the ministry announced.
