The Adukromhene, Akuapem Nifahene and Okerehene, Ahunabobrim Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V, has rallied sons and daughters of Adukrom, both home and abroad, to fund two flagship development projects, a modern palace and the Osuodumgya Education Fund, as he marked 10 years on the stool.
He made the appeal at the official launch of the 2026 Akuapem Nifa Okereman Odwira Festival, held at the Alex Apau Dadey Centre at the University of Ghana on Thursday, November 5.
Describing the festival as an occasion for thanksgiving, reflection and renewed commitment, the Okerehene said the gathering was an opportunity to celebrate the cultural heritage of the people and chart the future they wish to build together.
“Traditional leadership is not about occupying a stool, but about service, sacrifice, integrity and responsibility,” he said.
He said preserving heritage must go hand in hand with progress, including creating opportunities for young people, promoting education, encouraging entrepreneurship and preserving peace and unity.
“Development cannot thrive where there is division and distrust,” he said.
On practical development, he said a foremost priority is the construction of a modern palace that will adequately accommodate the people and provide the necessary facilities for traditional ceremonies and community programmes. He said the palace has over the years faced considerable challenges hosting major events due to limitations in space and facilities.
Education, he said, is another important priority. He therefore encouraged citizens to support the Osuodumgya Education Fund, which seeks to address the scholarship needs of students and provide them with opportunities to pursue their education.
He thanked the Chief Executive Officer of the KGL Group and principal sponsor, Mr. Alex Apau Dadey, for his generosity and invaluable support, and appealed to citizens to contribute their quota, whether financial resources, professional expertise, technical knowledge, business connections or other forms of support.
He further said the responsibility of developing Adukrom, Okereman and Nifaman should not rest on traditional authorities alone, but is a shared responsibility, and urged the people to translate their love for their hometown into meaningful action.
