The National Sports Authority (NSA) has congratulated Ghanaian champions, Hasaacas Ladies FC on qualifying to the semi-finals of the maiden edition of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League.
The new League which was introduced by the Confederation of African Football to develop women’s football products in Africa started on November 5, 2021, and will end on the 19th of the same month in Cairo, Egypt.
The Ghanaian champions reached the last four with a game in hand following their emphatic 3-0 victory over Malian side AS Mande in their second game.
Meanwhile, they had already beaten Malabo Kings by 3-1 in their opening fixture.
As the ‘Hasmal Ladies’ keep the flag of the nation high on the continent in women’s football, the governing board and management of NSA said they cannot afford to overlook the achievement of the team, hence deserves some applauds.
“The Governing board and Management of the National Sports Authority wishes to congratulate Hasaacas Ladies FC on their historic qualification to the semi-finals of the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League”
“This remarkable feat by the team is recommended by all standards and as such brought some excitement and interest in women’s football in the country” the statement highlighted.
The NSA, therefore, called on football fans in the country to support the team win the ultimate prize of the championship.
“In this regard, we ask all football-loving Ghanaians to rally behind the team, so as to spur them on to go for the ultimate in this competition. Once again we wish the playing body and the officials well in the tournament.”
Despite booking it ticket to the semi-finals, Hasaacas Ladies will face Egyptian outfit, Wadi Degla in the final Group A game today, November 11, 2021, at the 30th June Stadium in Cairo at 14:00GMT.
Coach Yusif Basigi and his gallant women who are champions of the Women’s West Africa Football Union Zone B, will be hoping to replicate the same in the ongoing tournament.
