Italy-based Ghanaian footballer, Alfred Duncan, will be playing in the grand finale of the 2023/24 Europa Conference League scheduled to take place in Athens, Greece on May, 29.
The midfielder helped his Italian club, Fiorentina, to book a place in the final on Thursday, May 8, 2024, over Belgium giant Club Brugg after a 1-1 draw at the Jan Breydelstadion in Belgium.
It means Duncan’s side will be playing at the famous Agia Sophia Stadium in Athens following a 4-3 aggregate scoreline.
They will be playing either Olympiacos of Greece or English side Aston Villa who battle for the final slot tonight with the Greek side leading Villa with a 4-2 scoreline after the first leg played in the United Kingdom.
The former Black Stars player enjoyed 20 minutes of the game as a substitute after he replaced Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo in the 70th minute.
His fellow countryman, Denis Odoi, however, missed out on the opportunity to play in the finals of the Conference League with Club Brugg.
The Black Stars right back was sent off in injury time after he was first booked in the 72nd minute of the game.
