Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jennifer Oforiwaah Queen, has stated that the immediate past government, led by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, took risks to introduce the free Senior High School (SHS) policy in the country.
According to her, before the introduction of the free SHS policy, the school system in the country was overwhelmed.
During her submission, she expressed that the NPP introduced the policy coupled with expansion in infrastructure, to reduce pressure on the schools.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on March 18, 2025, Ms. Oforiwaa stated that the introduction of the free SHS was difficult, yet they were able to implement it to ease the burden on parents.
She noted that the free SHS policy is constitutional; however, it takes a capable government to take risks to implement it effectively.
“The free SHS policy is constitutional, but it takes a proper government to implement it even though it’s in the constitution, no government took the risk to implement it,” Jennifer Queen asserted on the Angel Morning Show (AMS)
The deputy communicator of the NPP added that the NPP government undertook many reforms to ensure that the free SHS policy remains in the country.
