President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has met with the leadership of the national women’s football team, the Black Queens.
His engagement with the team followed rising tensions over unpaid bonuses owed to the players.
In protest, the team boycotted training and initially threatened to pull out of their crucial second-leg 2026 WAFCON qualifier against Egypt, scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
However, reports indicate that Mr. Okraku met with the players on the morning of Monday, October 27, in an effort to resolve the impasse between the team and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Following the meeting, the team’s leadership reportedly called off their intended boycott and resumed preparations for the upcoming tie.
Ghana won the first leg of the qualifier in Egypt with a commanding 3–0 scoreline.
