A driver has tragically lost his life following a heavy-duty vehicle accident at Kordzeto on the Hohoe stretch on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Hohoe Command disclosed that it was alerted to the scene at approximately 3:09 PM.
It noted that upon arrival, rescue teams found a trailer, loaded heavily with bags of cement, severely damaged, with the driver trapped inside the wreckage.
In a statement, the GNFS said firefighters successfully extricated the driver from the cabin; however, he was pronounced dead shortly after.
The Hohoe Municipal Commander, DOIII Bismark Hosu-Porbley, was at the scene and supervised a technical rescue operation to mitigate secondary hazards, including clearing spilt cargo and neutralising potential fire risks on the roadway.
It added that the incident caused extensive damage to the vehicle, and the scattered cement cargo caused significant traffic disruptions throughout the afternoon before clearing the road for traffic flow.
