CPP fully supports John Mahama Presidency – Kwame Nkrumah

Kwame Nkrumah, the General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has reiterated the party’s commitment to supporting the government under President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking on a panel discussion during the Angel Morning Show on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Nkrumah emphasized that the CPP is ready to assist in any way possible to help the current government succeed.

Reflecting on the challenges faced by the previous administration, Nkrumah acknowledged that the outgone government, under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo had to contend with difficult circumstances, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other unforeseen crises.

He noted that these challenges contributed to the difficulties the administration faced in delivering on certain promises.

“Indeed, Ken Ofori-Atta, the former Finance Minister, was given a difficult task, and he worked tirelessly under trying circumstances.

“However, I believe the NPP government could have managed things differently and perhaps achieved better results,” Nkrumah stated.

He called for a level-headed approach in assessing the performance of the current government, urging the public to give them time to stabilize and find their footing.

“It is important that we remain patient and allow the new government the time they need to put things in order. We must approach the current leadership with understanding and not rush to judgment,” he advised.

In his remarks, Nkrumah also emphasized the importance of bipartisan collaboration for the country’s progress. He stressed that any constructive contributions, regardless of political affiliation, should be made openly and transparently.

“In politics, it is easy to be apprehensive about sharing ideas, especially when you fear that your political opponents might benefit from them. However, when you make your ideas public, and they are adopted, you can take pride in knowing that the idea originated from you,” he said.

The CPP General Secretary’s comments underline the party’s willingness to put national interest above partisan politics, signaling the CPP’s readiness to support policies and initiatives that contribute to the well-being of the country.
