The Beverage Consumers and Bar Owners Association of Ghana, also known as the Drunkards Association of Ghana, has declared a one-week break in alcohol consumption.

According to a statement signed by the association’s president, Moses Onyah, the decision follows the recent deaths of statesmen, prominent musicians, pastors, and close officials of the association.

The statement explained that these death incidents have placed the group in a state of mourning for the past few weeks.

The one-week consumption break will propel its 16.7 million members to reflect on their lives and undergo medical screening to ensure their well-being.

“We the beverage consumers and bar owners of Ghana also known as the drunkards association would like to go on consumption break from 10th to 17th of November 2025 to enable our 16.7 million members reflect on their lives and also use the opportunity to go for medical screening to ensure their well-being,” the statement said.

The association and its leaders expressed appreciation to bar owners across the country who adhere to its directives to promote responsible drinking among members.

The association appealed to government to provide reflectors to help ensure the visibility of members when crossing roads at night.
