The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old carpenter, Kwame Arhin alias Abompe, in connection with the murder of Jonas Baah Sarpong, a security guard at Kibi Presbyterian College of Education.
According to a press release issued by the public affairs unit, the suspect was apprehended on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at a bush near the college.
The arrest followed an emergency alert received on Saturday, November 15, alleging the murder of a man in Kibi Newtown.
Police investigations revealed that the deceased, identified as Sarpong, was slashed in his throat with a cutlass, leading to his death.
Preliminary findings suggest a misunderstanding between the victim and the suspect led to the fatal attack.
The body was discovered near the Kibi Court Complex and later transferred to the Police Hospital in Accra for preservation and autopsy.
The police has noted that the suspect is currently in custody and being processed for court while investigations continue.
