Head of Ecowas Observation Mission (HoM), in Guinea Bissau, Alhaji Baba Kamara, has exhibited extraordinary leadership values by staying with the over 130 ECOWAS Elections Observation Mission in Guinea Bissau, in the wake of the post-election crisis.
As the HoM, in-spite of the fact that he had multiple opportunities to leave the country on Special Flights, he demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and chose to stay until the last Observer is evacuated out of the country.

Through his instrumentality, ASKY Airlines is making available a chartered flight to move all the ECOWAS Observers out of Bissau today, 28/11/25, to Lome, Togo.
In the wake of the just-ended elections in Guinea Bissau, there was a military coup take-over, leaving Observers stranded.
There was a curfew for over 24 hours until the swearing-in of the new Military Junta headed by, General Horta N’tam.
Former President Umaro Siccoko Embalo, has been airlifted, and currently in Senegal.
The ECOWAS Observers have been very appreciative of the strong leadership shown by Ghana’s Baba Kamara and are full of of praise for Ghana’s continued leadership in West Africa in particular.

Ambassador Baba Kamara, was Ghana High Commissioner to Nigeria and ECOWAS Commission under President Atta-Mills, and National Security Advisor during the first term of President John Mahama. He is currently ECOWAS Special Envoy on Counterterrorism, appointed by the ECOWAS Heads of Government in 2023.
Baba Kamara’s International Security pedigree is very deep and his solid performance in Guinea Bissau has added more glory to the image of Kwame Nkrumah’s Ghana.
