The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has handed over mining operating permits to Anwia and Teleku Bokazo.
Speaking at the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development event held in the Ellembelle district on Sunday, December 21, 2025, he stated that the initiative is a significant step in curbing illegal mining while promoting responsible practices.
“This is truly a vital step in ensuring that we transition our people from irresponsible mining to responsible mining,” he emphasized.
He noted that every license holder will be required to undergo training annually and will be guided by strict rules and regulations.
“Every license holder of cooperative mining will need to complete specific hours of training each year, which is one of the conditions for retaining the license, They will also be subjected to certain stringent rules and regulations concerning sustainable mining practices,” he explained.
According to him, the use of technology will assist mining companies in extracting more resources without polluting our water bodies.
“If we employ modern technology in the extraction process, they will be able to achieve a higher percentage yield without harming the water bodies,
“We will also support them in processing the structural materials. Often, one of the reasons for these issues is their need for water,” he added.
