Renowned Highlife musician, Obuoba Jackson Alfred Adofo, has revealed that he deliberately avoided drinking alcohol and womanizing throughout his career to protect himself and maintain longevity in the music industry.
Speaking in an interview on the Y’adwumanie show on Angel FM on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the veteran musician explained that his decisions were guided by caution and personal discipline, especially considering the risks associated with fame.
“I avoided drinking because you can easily get poisoned as a musician, and I also avoided womanizing although women are involved or are part of the work,” J.A. Adofo stated.
According to him, excessive involvement with alcohol and women can expose musicians to serious dangers, including betrayal and destroyed. He warned that some individuals could deliberately use such situations to harm successful artistes.
“Even though women are involved in the music industry or in the artwork, you don’t have to involve yourself so much with ladies because someone can easily destroy you through that. Someone can bribe a lady just to destroy you, and it’s something that happens mostly,” he added.
According to the highlife legend, maintaining self-control and focusing on one’s craft are essential for longevity in the music business.
He emphasized that many talented musicians have had their careers cut short due to indiscipline and avoidable lifestyle choices.
