A stalwart of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ras Mubarak has downplayed Global InfoAnalytics’ March tracking poll on the party’s next flagbearer ahead of the 2028 elections.
The poll conducted during the month of review indicates that Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson is endorsed by both sections of the public and members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Global InfoAnalytics March tracking poll suggested that 44% of floating voters and 41% of NPP voters prefer Ato Forson to lead the NDC in the 2028 presidential election.
However, Ras Mubarak, a former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, has questioned the credibility of the findings, arguing that they do not correspond to the facts on the ground.
“I’ve seen my friend Mussa Dankwah’s latest poll on the NDC’s 2028 flagbearer. While it may seem early for such conversations, let me say this respectfully: the facts on the ground do not support his current findings,” he said in a Facebook post.
The former MP stressed his doubts and stated categorically that any poll that refuses to acknowledge Chief Justice Julius Debrah as the frontrunner of the next NDC presidential candidate should be taken lightly.
“Any poll that does not feature the Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, as a leading candidate should be taken with a very big pinch of salt.”
He supported his argument with a similar research conducted by the institution during the recent Ayawaso East by-election, which failed to come to pass.
“Just like in the Ayawaso East by-election, where I had extensive behind-the-scenes discussions with Baba Jamal, the polls failed to reflect the reality on the ground. Baba was advised to ignore the numbers and focus on his message, and events proved that right. Mussa was wrong then.”
In his view, as the narrative of the Ayawaso East by-election, the same thing will unfold in the flagbearer race of the NDC.
“Insha Allah, he will be proven wrong again,” Ras Mubarak expressed.
