The Ghana Football Association, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, will lead a national interdenominational thanksgiving and prayer service ahead of the country’s FIFA World Cup campaign.

According to the GFA, the service is a solemn act of faith, reflection, and national unity.

It is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3:00 PM at All Saints Anglican Church in Adabraka, Accra.

The GFA said the service will bring together football administrators, government officials, corporate partners, clergy, and stakeholders to seek divine guidance and blessings for Ghana football, particularly the Black Stars ahead of next month’s global football showpiece.

President of the GFA and Second Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, will lead the football governing body’s delegation, alongside the Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams.

Also expected in attendance are members of the GFA Executive Council, GFA staff, government representatives, sponsors, partners, and key football stakeholders.

“The interdenominational gathering comes at a defining moment for Ghana football, following what has been an encouraging and achievement-filled period across multiple national teams and domestic competitions.

“Central to the service will be prayers for the Black Stars following their qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as the nation prepares to rally behind the senior national team on football’s biggest stage.”

The spiritual service will be led by Rt Reverend Dr. Daniel Sylvanus Torto, the Anglican Bishop of Accra, who will deliver the sermon.

He will be joined by an esteemed clergy contingent, including Rt Reverend George K. Neequaye, Anglican Bishop of Tema; Very Reverend Samuel Lamptey, Dean of the Cathedral Church of the Most Holy Trinity; and hosts of others.
