The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has expressed deep sorrow following a tragic school bus accident at Assin Edubiase in the Central Region that claimed the lives of two pupils of Alice Elites Academy and left several others injured.
In a press release issued on June 3, 2026, the Ministry extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the school community, describing the circumstances of their loss as “deeply devastating” and
“distressing.”
“The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection extends its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased children and sympathizes with those injured in this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the affected families,” the statement read.
It further assured affected families and the school community of psychosocial support, in dictating that “Government remains committed to providing psychosocial support to the bereaved families and the school community during this difficult time.”
The Ministry commended emergency responders and the Ghana Police Service for their swift action in rescuing and assisting victims and noted that investigations into the accident are ongoing to ensure accountability.
“We urge all stakeholders to prioritize the safety of children and ensure accountability in matters that affect their welfare,” the statement stated.
