Musician Grace Ashy says her latest song for the Black Stars was not a personal initiative but was commissioned and financed by Moses Amarh Parker.

Speaking in an interview, Grace Ashy explained that unlike the previous songs she composed for the national team out of her own goodwill, the new project was undertaken at the request of Armah Parker.

“The previous songs I did for the Black Stars, I did them willingly, but for this new one, it was Moses Amarh Parker who made me compose it. He financed me to do it,” she said.

The singer also disclosed why she chose not to present the song directly to the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku.

“I didn’t tell Kurt because I have my reasons. So I gave it to the Sports Ministry. Kurt doesn’t recognize me as someone who sings for the Black Stars,” she stated.

According to Grace Ashy, she has no personal issues with the GFA boss but believes his attitude towards her suggests he does not acknowledge her contributions to the national team.

“I don’t have any issues with him. You can meet someone and do something for them; their attitude alone will speak whether or not they are happy about it. When he sees me, he doesn’t see me as someone he even knows,” she added.

Grace Ashy further revealed that she eventually submitted the song to Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, who warmly received it.

“So I went to give the song to the Sports Ministry. Kofi Adams accepted it and told me they will use the song,” she said.
