The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that the party will not protect the interdicted headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Zakaria Abdulai, if he is found guilty of allegations of sexual misconduct involving several female students.
According to the party’s General Secretary, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party wants law enforcement agencies to conduct an independent investigation and establish the truth.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, October 22, 2026, he emphasised that anyone found culpable must face the full consequences of the law.
“We do not endorse any such conduct. And we want the law enforcement to do an independent job. If he’s found guilty, he’ll pay the highest price. If he’s not guilty, we’ll be happy for him. So we want the law enforcement to do its own job.
“We assure the world that this party will not in any way interfere. We want the truth to be brought out. As a party and its government, we do not cover anybody,” the General Secretary reiterated.
Mr Kwetey made the statement following an exposé by investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni on sexual assault allegations involving the interdicted headmaster.
The case docket has been forwarded to the Attorney-General, while investigations are ongoing.
