The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has rejected claims suggesting that he ridiculed former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko during the party’s recent national leadership and flagbearership contests.
He described the claims as “fabricated narratives” intended to “undermine” the party’s unity.
In a statement issued on November 3, 2026, the Office of the National Chairman categorically refuted the remarks attributed to Mr. Boadu, insisting that there was no verified evidence linking Mr. Agyarko to the statements being circulated in his name.
“The Office categorically repudiates the remarks attributed to Hon. Boadu and cautions against circulating unverified claims that undermine the unity the party is building,” the statement said.
According to the statement, although Facebook accounts identified as Umar Haris and Kofi SammyTV appeared to have helped circulate the narrative, the Office would not speculate on the motives behind its publication or assign responsibility without conclusive evidence.
“The Office also has no verified evidence that Mr. Agyarko authored or endorsed the statements circulating in his name,” it added.
Mr. Boadu, through his office, further reaffirmed his commitment to reconciliation and mutual respect following the party’s internal elections, stressing the need for all contestants and their supporters to work together towards the NPP’s shared objectives.
“Following a competitive internal election, the National Chairman remains committed to reconciliation and mutual respect, and to bringing every member, including Mr. Agyarko, together in pursuit of the party’s shared objectives,” the statement noted.
The Office also called on members and supporters to uphold party discipline and refrain from inflammatory commentary, particularly conduct that could promote division or misrepresent other contestants.
It further stressed that the internal elections were contests for leadership and should not become grounds for lasting divisions within the party.
“Though members supported different candidates, we must now unite under one banner and focus on the greater task ahead: victory in the 2028 general elections,” the statement said.
The National Chairman’s Office urged party faithful to disregard unverified narratives, exercise restraint and recommit themselves to unity and discipline as the party works towards returning to government in 2028.
