The Member of Parliament (MP) for Shai Osudoku Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, has been adjudged the most outstanding female MP for 2022 by West Africa Young Leaders Awards (WAYLA).
Madam Linda Ocloo emerged as the overall winner of the awards among some ranked Female lawmakers in the country for their exceptional and effective service to humanity.
She was presented with the award plague encrypted with a citation signed by Comrade Barry Ndu, the convenor of the West Africa Young Leaders Summit/Awards.
“For your efforts in positively touching the lives of your constituent’s accessibility, passion for effective leadership and excellent contributions towards making Ghana proud,” the citation for the MP reads.
Receiving the award on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, the NDC Legislature who is seeking reelection in the forthcoming 2024 general election thanked organizers of WAYLA for recognising her contribution to society even as an opposition MP striving to secure the best for her constituents.
Emphasising the award, she quoted Mathew 6:33 saying, “So above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.”
According to her, despite the disadvantage of being an opposition MP, the award will spur her to give her best to the people of Shai Osudoku and accomplish all that she had set out to do.
“I don’t look like what I have been through, to God be the Glory, 15th Award, Ay3 Adom Bi K3k3. Winning together, working together, unity is the key word,” the 2022 most outstanding female MP added in a Facebook post.
Madam Linda Ocloo, however, noted that with oneness and support from the constituents, she is determined to use her platform as an MP to bring the necessary development to reduce the challenges facing the constituency.
Adding to her name, the most outstanding female MP for 2022 by West Africa Young Leaders Awards (WAYLA) becomes the 15th award the NDC MP has won after assuming office as MP for the area in 2017 following the 2016 elections to succeed David Tetteh Assumeng.
