Fella Makafui Takes Leading Role in Season 2 of Netflix’s “Anikulapo,” Showcasing Ghana as a Rising Film Hub.
The Ghanaian actress has been cast in a leading role for the second season of the popular Nigerian Netflix series “Anikulapo.” The series will be available on Netflix, reaching audiences in over 191 countries.
Nigerian movie producer Kunle Afolayan announced in June that Season 2 of the award-winning Nigerian film ‘Anikulapo’ will be shot in Ghana. In a post on Monday, October 7, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Film Authority (NFA) Juliet Asante, revealed Fella Makafui’s involvement in the movie, sharing a picture of the actress in action.
This collaboration aligns with Ghana’s goal to work with other African nations to showcase Ghanaian talent on the global stage.
The series, directed by renowned filmmaker Kunle Afolayan and endorsed by Netflix, will be available in over 191 countries, showcasing Ghana as an emerging center for film production through the NFA’s #ShootInGhana initiative. Asante expressed gratitude for the support from the Ministry of Tourism, the Ghana Tourism Authority, and the Ghana Museums & Monuments Board, as well as Afolayan’s willingness to collaborate on this project.
She praised Fella Makafui for her hard work and dedication, particularly her commitment to learning the Yoruba language for her role.
