The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the death of a suspected armed robber during a special anti-robbery operation conducted at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
In a police statement, the intelligence-led operation was carried out on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, by the Police Intelligence Directorate, targeting a robbery gang that has been terrorizing residents and commuters in and around the Ejura enclave.
During the operation, one of the suspects, identified as Amadu, popularly known as “Manu,” sustained gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead.
According to the Police, a suspect connected to a robbery incident that occurred on March 14, 2026, along the Atebubu–Ejura highway, where armed men attacked a moving vehicle, shooting and injuring a passenger.
Police retrieved several items from the deceased suspect, including a single-barreled gun, five live cartridges, a Tecno Pop 10 mobile phone, and a cash amount of GH¢200.
Authorities say efforts have been intensified to arrest other members of the gang to bring them to justice.
