The newly-elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has officially been sworn in to represent the people in Parliament.
Madam Aubynn was officially sworn-in on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, by Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
The swearing-in, presided over by the Speaker of Parliament was successful despite a walkout by the Minority Caucus side in House.
The minority’s action stemmed from the Speaker’s decision to deny a request from Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, who sought permission to make a statement before the oath was administered.
However, Madam Aubynn was officially inducted into the 9th Parliament without any obstruction to confirm her Parliamentary status.
Her swearing-in comes after a fiercely contested parliamentary rerun in 19 polling stations at the Ablekuma North constituency following following the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to nullify the results of the initial December 2024 election over irregularities and among others.
In the rerun, Ewurabena Aubynn secured 34,090 votes to overcome the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Akua Afriyie, who polled 33,881 votes.
