Tension is rising at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) headquarters in Accra as hundreds of supporters of dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, massed up demanding his release from custody.
The principal street in front of EOCO, which leads to the Supreme Court and the Bank of Ghana, is filled with furious fans awaiting the musician, Angel News’s Court reporter, Ama Brako reported.

Shatta Wale’s management team, traders, former Black Stars striker, artiste manager – Ricky Nana Agyemang known as “Bullet”, and some individuals believed to be fetish priests joined the gathering to show support since morning.
EOCO confirmed that on Wednesday, August 21, 2025, the Office invted the musician for interrogations but was detained over alleged money laundering and other crime-related issues.
His detention sparked massive agitation, with fans trooping to EOCO’s premises to press for his release. They continue chanting his name and demanding immediate action.

However, EOCO in a statement had clarified that Shatta Wale had been granted bail but had not yet been released due to his inability to meet the requirements of GHC10 million with two sureties as justification.
It explained that once the sureties are presented, the Office will conduct a standard surety inspection before releasing him from custody.
Despite these clarification, supporters have remained at the EOCO headquarters, hoping that the musician will be released before the close of day.
