The next New Patriotic Party (NPP) government will ensure the removal of any Chief Justice (CJ) we meet in office, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akim Oda Constituency, Alexander Akwasi Acquah declared.
Mr. Acquah asserted that the NPP will execute political retaliation to sack any CJ they encounter, in reference to President John Mahama’s decision to remove Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.
The immediate past CJ was removed from office by the President under Article 146 of the Constitution after reviewing the report of a committee set up to probe petitions filed against her.
But, Alexander Akwasi Acquah who expressed dissatisfaction over the decision has stated vehemently that the NPP will equally use the provisions of the same Article without hesitation.
“The NPP has not started a campaign yet for the next general elections but I can tell you that regardless of any Chief Justice that is in office, when we assume power, remember that, Article 146 will do the talking,” the MP stated during a discussion segment on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Angel TV.
Mr Acquah, for these, added that the independent of the judicial administration is now impeded.
“Now that the Chief Justice has received her fair share of the sacking, magistrates and circuit court judges will be shivering because if they don’t give a perfect ruling on cases, there will be problems for them,” Mr. Acquah said.
He highlighted, “Now, the very rock and foundation of the Judiciary is shaken.”
