The Ghana Navy has arrested ten Nigerian nationals who attempted to stowaway on board a Panamanian-flagged merchant vessel, Grand Venus, on Friday, October 31, 2025.
According to the Navy, the arrest was made eight nautical miles southeast of Tema following a distress call received by naval authorities.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the stowaways sneaked onto the vessel while it was docked at the Lagos Port in Nigeria.
“The vessel, together with the stowaways, was escorted to the main harbour and handed over to the appropriate authorities including Port Control, Ghana Immigration Service and Marine Police for further investigation,” Its said in a Facebook poast, Monday, November 3, 2025.
The Ghana Navy assured the public that additional information will be communicated as investigations progress.
