Former Black Stars Head Coach, Otto Addo, has been named among the members of the newly constituted Technical Study Group (TSG) for next month’s FIFA World Cup to be hosted in Canada, the USA, and Mexico.
Mr. Addo becomes the only African to earn a place on the Study Group, whose job will be to analyze matches and pick the Man of the Match as well as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the end of the tournament.
The 11-member team will be tasked with observing and identifying tactical, technical, and physical trends from all the 104 matches expected to be played at the tournament.
Otto Addo’s appointment comes barely a month after he was dismissed as Black Stars coach over an abysmal performance.
Other members of the Study Group include former Brazil and Arsenal player Gilberto Silva, Argentine Pablo Zabaleta, Jon Dahl Tomasson, and former Germany coach Jürgen Klinsmann.
The rest include Paulo Wanchope, Aron Winter, Pascal Zuberbühler, Tobin Heath, Jayne Ludlow, and Michael O’Neill.
This was announced on Monday, May 11, 2026, at FIFA’s ongoing media briefing regarding the Technical Study Group.
