Mid-Year Budget: Ghanaians’ sacrifice towards a resilient economy was not in vain – Ato Forson

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has highlighted the efforts and sacrifices of Ghanaians as part of the incumbent government’s initiative to build a resilient foundation for a stable and stronger economy.

According to him, stabilising the ailing economy the government inherited was achieved not only through the government’s difficult decisions but also through the patience and resilience of citizens.

Presenting the Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review in Parliament on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Ato Forson emphasised that the sacrifices made by Ghanaians had secured a strong foundation upon which the government would continue to build.

“We know that low inflation alone does not refill an empty pot; we know that a stronger cedi does not instantly repair a household budget stretched by years of economic mismanagement and crisis.

“Your sacrifice was not in vain. It secured something priceless, a firm foundation. And on that foundation, we will build the Ghana we want,” he noted.

Presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review in Parliament on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Dr. Forson said the government’s efforts to stabilise the economy were made possible by the patience and endurance of ordinary Ghanaians.

According to him, these bold decisions were necessary to move the economy “from the emergency room to the wellness centre.”

“Let me be clear, these achievements do not belong to Government. They belong to the people of Ghana,” he told Parliament.

Dr. Forson expressed gratitude to Ghanaians, including traders, farmers, teachers, entrepreneurs, and young people seeking opportunities, for their resilience and commitment to the country.

“Your sacrifice is the reason Ghana is standing today. Your future is the reason we refuse to stop here.”
