Sports journalists Listowel Daniel Mensah and Evans Kwabena Sarpong, together with youth activist Albert Owusu Buadu, have petitioned the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
They are requesting an official probe into the Association over a supposed US$2.7 million allocated by the erstwhile President Akufo-Addo-led government in 2022 for the construction of a ‘World Cup Legacy Project.’
The planned project was expected to build a 40-bed accommodation facility at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram to provide residential, training, and retreat accommodation for all national teams.
The project, Qatar 2022 World Cup Legacy Project, was funded by a portion of the net prize money received from Ghana’s participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In the petition submitted by the three Activists and Journalists on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, they are demanding accountability for why the project has experienced severe delays and remains incomplete four years after the funds were designated.
