The Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SIKAPPA Precious Minerals & Jewellery, Nana Okrah Yaw Asuo Sikapa, has urged the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) to invest part of Ghana’s mineral royalties in breast cancer awareness and education.
Speaking to the media on Friday, October 23, 2026, during a breast cancer awareness program organized by MIIF, Nana Sikapa, also known as Odeneho Sikapa, said proceeds from Ghana’s natural resources must translate into direct health benefits for citizens.

According to him, returns from gold and other minerals should fund free, nationwide breast cancer screening to promote early detection and treatment, from rural communities to urban centres.
“It is time we give back to society from the returns of our gold and mineral resources,” he stated.

Mr. Asuo added: “Instead of focusing solely on traditional investments, we should prioritize funding breast cancer awareness and free screenings so that every citizen, whether in the village or the city, can benefit from early detection and treatment.”
Beyond health interventions, Nana Sikapa also called on MIIF to support the training of teachers and the development of dedicated health modules for Ghana’s national curriculum.

He advocated for continuous breast cancer education from basic school to senior high school, arguing that awareness should go beyond a once-a-year campaign.

“Breast cancer awareness should not be observed only in October; it must become a daily learning activity.
“By integrating this into our national education system, future generations, especially women, will gain a deeper understanding of the disease, allowing us to eradicate it together,” he stressed.
