Award winning rapper, Sarkodie, has highlighted the economic benefits of his annual Rapperholic concert, describing the event as a major contributor to economic activity beyond the entertainment industry.
In a post on X, the award-winning musician said Rapperholic stimulates economic activity across Kumasi, Accra and the wider Ghanaian economy through sectors such as tourism, hospitality, transportation, food, fashion, media and advertising.
According to Sarkodie, the concert’s economic value extends beyond ticket sales to include visitor spending, revenue for local businesses, temporary employment opportunities and payments to suppliers involved in organising the event.
He also noted that the concert could generate future tourism and commercial opportunities, positioning it as an important platform for economic growth.
The rapper called on the government and private sector to invest in Ghana’s creative economy, arguing that the entertainment industry has the potential to create jobs, support businesses and attract visitors.
“To the government and private sector, the opportunity is to build an ecosystem where Ghanaian entertainment generates measurable economic value, supports businesses, creates jobs and attracts visitors,” he wrote.
He further urged stakeholders to recognise the broader economic potential of the creative industry, stressing that its benefits extend well beyond performances on stage.
“Let’s invest in our creative economy. The potential goes far beyond the stage,” Sarkodie added.
